home – safe and sound

We are finally home. We dragged our tired butts into the house about 02:30 this morning. It was a long day, but only because we started out late.
Yesterday morning, I turned a 20$ bill into 80$, so we decided it was a good time to leave Jackpot. We stopped in Twin Falls for a McD’s breakfast, and I spotted a Starbucks – I needed a java chip to try and stop the headache that I was getting. I believe the headache was from too much acohol and no enough water last night. O well I had a good time and won some money.

The drive north was good, sunny and warm until we got about 1/2 way up Montana. We had been watching the thunderclouds in the north and west all day, they seemed to get bigger and darker as the day wore on. Just north of Helena, we hit the storm, lots of lightning, not really any wind, but hail, and very heavy rain. At one point for about 10 seconds or so, I could bearly make out the road in front of the car, we slowed down considerably. The heavy part of the storm lasted about 10 mintues (big storm), we felt sorry for the motorcyclists we past that were driving toward it. It took another 1/2 hour or so to get through the rain.

There was only 1 car ahead of us at the border, so we were through and back in the land of the “true north strong and free” in about 2 minutes. We stopped at a Timmy’s to get a sandwich, and then got gas and picked up a Lotto Max ticket or two. We heard the jackpot was still 50 $ Million, hopefully my lucky streak is still going 🙂

The drive from the border home, was uneventfull, except we have some very weird drivers on the QE2 in the early morning hours. We grabbed the cameras and laptop and dragged ourselves into the house. I was in bed and probably asleep within 15 minutes.

Another great trip south, now to unpack the car this morning!

  1. Glad to hear you are home safe and sound. Now the worst part – unpacking and putting away! Hate that job. We got home last night about 7:30. A week away just isn’t enuf. I’m looking forward to 3 weeks away – last week of July and first 2 of August. TTYL
