we are off to see Tower d’Effel

a long night of sleep – ya !!
After my sleep in the late afternoon, we did go across the street to have a fantastic cheese sandwich and pomme du frite (fries), then back up to the room to get the cameras and a little jaunt around the hotel to take some photos of the side streets.
Then back up to the room, and to bed by 11 pm – a first!
We slept till 09:30 and feel so much better. Had left over crossants and ham & cheese for breaky. Then out and about to see the street market – it wasn’t there, so we wandered and bit then back to the hotel to wait for Jan.
Then off on the metro to see the tower. Nice. we walked along the Seine toward the tower, taking photos along the way. We wandered around and under the tower, but didn’t go up – the line was way long and we have already been up there.
There were some South American Indians playing flutes and drums there, we stopped and listened – nice, Of course I took a lot of photos.
Then we walked up to the Trocadero. We wandered around there, being accosted by all the guys selling little towers and scarfs. Of courese it started to rain a little, actually a lot, so the guys selling little trinkets happen to be seeling umbrellas as well, so we are now the proud owners of 5$ umbrellas – a good buy as it rained for about 15-20 minutes, so we wandered around in the rain.
Back on the metro and over to the Latin Quarter to see Jan’s gallery. But first we needed to eat. We picked an Italian resturant this time. Very good bruschetta, and spaghetti and chocolate mousse for desert. After which we started to wander down the street toward the gallery, we bumped into 2 Canadian ladies who were lost trying to find their hotel, so we dragged them along to find it. After that we wanderd away down the street to the gallery – nice place, the invitation will be ready tomorrow, so we will go back again tomorrow.
Then off down the streets, just wandering, and lo and behold, a gelatto stand, finally, and we had to have some. We sat and talked and ate and watched the people.
Then we were off again, walking here and there toward our metro stop. We went into the wrong one so we went out and back down the street to the one we needed, and then back to the hotel.
Another long day of walking, but o so nice, it is hard to believe that we are in Paris.
We were talking today about how lucky the three of us are, to be able to come over here and experience the beauty of the old world of Paris.
