Jan 14 to kayak or snorkel that is the question

.

Wake up call at 5:30 and on the panga at 6:00. To the shore before light. Saw a red footed Boobie and other birds. Tons of birds. Sea lions on shore and little sting rays. We stayed back with Betty when the others wandered through the lava. Watched small schools of little fish come in with the tide. The sting rays came at the same time. We wandered back to the beach where we landed to wait for the rest. Back to the boat for breakfast.
After breakfast it was time to get fitted for a wet suit and fins. We decided to take a kayak for a spin. Off we went along the tall cliff looking at bird poop and birds and some sea lions sleeping on the rocks. Cool. No back support so my legs were screaming at me. We went almost to the headland and came back.
They picked us in the panga and back to the ship to have lunch. Great lunch fried plantains and salads and shrimp in something. I got a piece of chicken – o so tasty. We had a couple of hours to rest up before the afternoon walk.
Back on the pangas and across to where we were this morning. Along the cliff looking at birds. Up to the headlands to see all the iguanas sunning themselves. Back in a bit to Prince Philip Stairs to drop off most of the group. We took a leisurely ride back along the cliffs looking at seals, and frigate birds. Back to the ship to relax have a shower and download images.
We watched the sun go down – beautiful site. The HMCS Beagle was between us and the sun, so that made for a good photo op. Even after the sun went down, the colour on the horizon was great. The group got back just after the sun went down.
Supper was fresh tuna and wahoo that they bought today from someone who came selling fresh fish. The tuna was sushi and the wahoo was cooked. I had steak. The rice was great. Then our briefing about tomorrow. We don’t have much of a schedule. We stay anchored tonight and move off around 5:30. We snorkel around 9:00, move again, and more snorkelling.
After the breeding we sat at the bow for a bit and looked at the stars. That didn’t last long, as it is damp and the wind is cool.
I am ready for bed and it’s only 8 PM.
