Back to the hotel after a long day of driving around Auckland. We had breakfast with our friends again, and then off on the explorer bus. Yes a bus not a coach as we had to say when on our tour in Europe. We decided to go all the way around and then pick what we wanted to see, so off we went, then we got off at Victoria Park Market and wandered the small shops. I found a couple of things to buy. While we were in one of the small shops, we heard It’s a Wonderful World by Louis Armstrong, and it was dedicated to a Vicki from Edmonton who is touring New Zealand. So now we need to know….. Who did it? and that was so nice (unless Vicki was hullcinating) but Vicki says that even
the store keeper heard it, when she questioned him.
Then back on the bus and around to the ferry terminal where we started. We stayed and kept going and got off at Kelly Tarlton’s Antartic place, but got back on when the people at the stop said they had just evacuated the place because of a power outage. So off we go around the city again. We decided to stay on and go around to the place again to see if it was open, sure enough it was this time, so off we got and on to the Antartic Adventure – we were a little disapointed, it was smaller thaN I expected. Lots of fish some sharks, and sea horses. Ira coaxed the occtopus out from behind the rock so I could take a photo of him. Vicki held her hand in cold ice water for 30 seconds, just because.
Then back on the bus, except we missed it by about 2 minutes, so we sat in the bus shelter and waited for 1/2 hr for the next one. That was a good thing as this driver stopped along the side of the road to buy some strawberries, and he shared with everyone.
Back around to the ferry terminal and off we got this time. A short walk around the corner and up the hill and we are back at the hotel. We are having a short beak and a quick shower, and then off to the SKy Tower for supper and to watch the sunset from 1000ft in the air.
Wow what a view, we went up the Sky Tower about 3/4 of an hr. before our reservation for supper. We went to the observation level and walked around and took photos. The sunset turned out to be a dud – the clouds rolled in, and there wasn’t much colour at all. The food was very good, but the company was even better, we laughed and talked for more that a couple of hours.
And of course, there is a casino – so off we went there to loose 20$. Well I won some and came out about 60$ to the good. Then a short walk back down the hill to our hotel. We chatted a bit and then off to bed. We are getting up early to see Joy & Ira off to the airport.
