Today we have a private tour to Coimbra and Tomar. Lots of medieval churches and Cathedrals.
Well it had to happen. It’s raining. O well. Down for breakfast. The usual fare, eggs and bacon and lots of fruit. The coffee is a little bitter but I need the caffeine.
We have a tour guide and a driver and a Mercedes to drive around in. Off we went toward Coimbra – the university city. The best in the country. We wandered around the old buildings but didn’t go in because there were classes. We then walked down the cobblestone streets back to the centre of town.
We wandered up and down the street, spent some money on t-shirts. We sat outside a cafe and had lunch and then a “sugar bomb” for desert.
Then on to Tomar and the Knights Templar. Wow what a magnificent place. There were passageways and cloisters all around. We could get lost if we didn’t have our guide. What they could do 500 years ago was amazing.
From there we headed back to Lisbon. We came in on a different road, and then took us through the “new” part, where the refineries used to be. Along the port and then back to the hotel.
After unloading we headed out again to find a place to eat. We ended up at the same place as last night. We decided to walk around the circle to walk off supper. Took some photos around the circle and headed back to the hotel.

Please—please -please- bring home fresh TARTS!!!!!!!
