March 29 :(

Long travel day today – about 34 hours long. We get home 2 hours before we left.
Up early and off to the airport. Vicki wants to get there early so we can change our seats on the long flight.
We were up at 6, and out the door at 7:05. Paul got us to the airport at 8 (3.5 hrs before our flight). We jumped out, Paul got our bags from the boot, we hugged and said our goodbyes.
Vicki wrestled with the trolly for our bags, and inside to checkin. We had to walk to the other end of the terminal, they had just changed everything around.
We had to wait 15 minutes before we could check-in – thanks for being so early Vicki 🙂 We checked in and got our seats changed for the long flight, and then filled out our customs cards for Australia, and zipped in through security.
We were going to try to get our GST back for the small computer, but I had bought it more than 30 days ago, so no go.
We exhanged our left over Australian money – yes we have some left over money – exchanged it for Canadian, and then off to the gate to wait.
The flight was uneventful. We sat together in the middle. The guy across the aisle was huge – his head almost touched the roof of the plane he had the two window seats to himself, he needed that to unfold his legs.
Landed in Auckland, and we had to go through security again, and I got swept with a wand, and my camera bag checked for funny things – we passed.
Now we sit in a familiar airport, where we know where stuff is. Our flight to Vancouver seems to now be 3/4 of an hour earlier than our ticket says, which is a good thing – a shorter time to get home, as long as the Air Canada flight is still the same. But on checking the flight online, the time is still the same.
So I bought some internet time, and surfed the net for a bit. We went to the gate that was posted up on the baord. When the flight attendants spoke spanish we got supicious, and checked the baord again, seems they changed the gates on us. So back down the terminal, and then down stairs to the right gate.
The plane left at the time it was supposed to. We got into Vancouver at 1:30 Sunday afternoon, then through customs – no problems there. Back through another set of security screenings, and dropped off our bags, the across the airport to the domestic gates, and wait for our plane to Edmonton.
Once throguh everything we looked for a bathroom, and something to eat. Found the bathroom, but very little to eat once you are through security at the Vancouver airport ( at least in domestic). We boarded a little late because they had a lack of staff, but once they were ready, there was something wrong with the plane.
We sat on the tarmack in the plane for about 1 hr and 15 minutes. They finally got the thing fixed, and we left 1.5 hr late. Got into Edmonton at 7:30 pm. Terry was there to pick us up. It is about +3, nice fresh cold air outside. We decided we wanted pizza for supper, so we ordered take away on the way, and picked it up before going to the house.
We got to the house about 8:30, not taking into account the time changes, it took 13.5 hours to get here. We left the house at 7:00 am in Sydney, and got here at 8:30 pm – but it actually took 31.5 hours from door to door.
