So so good.
Got out of the city at noon – right on schedule – if we had a schedule. nothing exciting happened on the drive to Helena Montana. It was cloudy and raining off and on. The lady at the gas ststion said they had been having Seattle weather for the past 2 weeks. Gas was $3.77 – cheaper than home.
We were up and on the road before 07:00 – a schedule this morning. Got to Bannack about 09:30, the clouds were breaking up. We wandered around there for a couple of hours, there were 2 other “tourists” there until a bus load of kids showed up.
And we were off. More heavy clouds and rain. At one point the temp dropped about 10 degrees, and we either hit a patch of ice or we hydro-planed – now that was fun ! Holy crap – I needed a coke after that.
The farther south we go the less clouds and rain.
Decided to go through Craters of the Moon Park. Stopped at Hell’s Half Acre to have a sandwich. Decided to go on to the main part of the Craters. Neat place. Black lava rock everywhere. We climbed the Inferno Cinder Cone – nice view. Wandered around there – not many people here either.
We arrived in Jackpot lastnight without too much trouble. We decided to loose 20$ – but instead we each came away winners. Paid for the room and supper with our winnings – ya!
I am having problmes with this site, so I can’t promise when I’ll get some photos up, but I will try – got some great sky and cloud shots.
