After Bodie

We had a great day yesterday.
We started at 9, got to go into the park past all the tourists waiting to get in – that was nice. We split into to groups and one group went into one building and the other group into another. After an hour we switched. We went through the hotel, the school, the store, the mortuary, the firehall, chinese laundry, the stamp mill, the prostitute’s house, and the Cameron house – not much there except rat poop.
We broke for a tailgate lunch in the parking lot. It was about 85F and no clouds so hot an sunny, and I was dehydrated. I stayed in the car for about 2 hrs, in the shade and little breeze, drinking water and eating, and had a nap. Then refreshed I wandered back down into town and caught up with the group.
What a diverse groups of people. Mostly people of a “certain age”, so we all appreciated the relics in the buildings. One of the fellows hung out with Ansal Adams – so a lot of experience there. I bought his history book of Bodie. He used a Hasleblad camera and film. Very nice guy. One of the ladys was in our Point Reyes workshop last year. The two leaders were great as usual.
Some of got together for supper last night – the ones that could move that is. We laughed and talked about our favorite shots, and about what we wanted to do next time we were here.
I had wanted to go out and do some more star trail photos last night, but after supper, I was too pooped. So back to the hotel and an early night.
