Time to pack up and move onto the boat. Last time unpack for 10. That will be a relief.
Bigger bus this time I guess they heard how much photographers carry. We each had our own seat on the way to the airport. Once at the airport it was another cluster #######.
The plane ride was the longest so far, about 1 1/2 hr. Then off and walk a 1/2 mile into the airport and a 45 min line up to go through immigration and another line up together the bag crated again. Just before the plane landed the crew went and sprayed all the luggage compartments. No bugs in the Galapagos.
On to a bus and down to the dock to catch the panga (zodiac) to the ship. Not feeling too bad on the boat so far. We got a briefing about the boat, got assigned our rooms and then had lunch. The boat moved to other side of the island and got ready to go ashore. Then there was a mad scramble because there were orcas around us. We almost got pulled into the panga and we were off chasing them. In and around our pangas and breaching right beside us. For about 20 minutes they were feeding around us. We finally got ashore and more birds! Brown pelicans and frigate birds. We walked to a pond where there were marine iguanas and some flamingos. Got some good shots as the sun was setting. Then back to the ship and supper – steak and veggies.
While we were eating the boat was moored and rocking side to side. That didn’t set well with me. The lounge was hot as well. I spent most of my time outside. There was a ceremony to meet the Drew. There are 5 of them. We had a briefing for tomorrow but I didn’t care. I was not feeling well. Vicki wasn’t either. Gravol to the rescue. At least we slept.
Our cabin is just big enough for the bed and room to stand. But it is great. We don’t have that much stuff, so everything is stowed away.
