Jan 15 wanna snorkel?

We started out by moving the boat 5:30, and I proceeded to not feel well, even with gravol in me. I went topside for a bit but soon was back down below laying down. I didn’t have breakfast but a bit late had some toast and a coke. Feeling better, but not enough to ho snorkelling in the open ocean. I had a nap and then watched them come back.
I guess there was a reef were they were, not that many fish. I missed lunch too, not really hungry. Went topside and laid in the sun a bit while the boat moved.
The a second round of snorkelling. This time in a lagoon. I said what the heck, I’m game for it, especially if I get to be on solid ground for a while. Grabbed our gear and hustled to the panga, forgetting a camera.
We landed on a black sand beach, lava all around. Great landscape. We walked through the lava around and down to a nice little white sandy beach. Put on our gear and into the water. Cool in spots but mostly warm. Saw lots of fish. Striped and spotted big and little. They didn’t seem as colourful as the ones on the Great Barrier Reef.
We were there about 45 minutes, then walked back to the pickup beach. We all gathered whatever pieces of plastic we could find. Three of the crew came with us and hauled back a big net. We took the second panga and got a lot of wave action as we loaded. They put the boats into shore backwards, that is, motor first. I guess it is easier for us silly gringos to get in and out of that way.
Back to the boat and rest time.
Then supper – fresh lobster that was caught by where we landed to snorkel. I got steak. So steak & lobster feast followed by chocolate cake and home made ice cream!! Good thing we are doing a lot to work off the calories.
We had a short lecture on the Galapagos and the currents that effect the islands. I was asleep by 9.
