It is still over cast, and windy. We are not going deep sea fishing, because the winds are from the wrong direction, and it would be unsafe to go out.
So out comes the sun…. ya!! After a good breakfast we are off towards something past Tauranga. We stopped at Minden Road to have a look at the lookout. Great views, and another windy road. Then back in the car and off to the Te Puna Quarry. It is an old rock quarry, that they have restored with plants and trees and flowers.
We wandered around for a while, looking at flowers and trees and ferns. The Monarch butterflys were great lots of them floating around, and trying to reproduce. We walked a while and then decided we should go for lunch. So back in the car and down the road.
We drove by the little fish and chip shop to see if we wanted to eat there. I whipped a U turn in the middle of the road and parked beside the place and went in. It was right beside the fishing boats, and really fresh fish. We had Tarakihi and chips, and for someone who doesn’t like fish, I had 2 pieces, it was great, and the batter was crisp and not oily.
Again, back in the car and off toward Papamoa, in a round about way. We did a little tour of Tauranga before we got the right road to get to where we were going.
Back to the house, and get supper ready, well Marj got supper ready, we looked at photos. Rack of lamb, and new potatoes and of course peas and carrots – mmmmm what a good meal. Then we hurried and cleared the table and took of to Pilot Bay to catch the sunset.
And what a sunset, and first it looked as though we might have missed it, or it wouldn’t be good, but then after the sun went down the colour came up, with some little clouds all over the sky. What a gorgeous sunset….. Then to Copenhagen Ice cream to get some really good ice cream cones. That was a good topper on the day.
