Up and down for breakfast. Our shuttle picked us up at 8:30 and took us over to where all the tour buses are – where we were 2 weeks ago. Weather was damp, heavy overcast and some rain.
Got on a big bus and off on our Lisbon tour. We should not have taken this, we’ve seen it before. Except for the coach museum. All the coaches from the 15th century till the early 1900’s.
Into Jeronimo’s cathedral – again we’ve seen it before. Good thing, mass was being held, so we didn’t get in very far. We then did a little walking tour through the Alfama district. Small cobblestones streets. Back to the square and off and away for lunch.
On the bus and off to Sintra. Took about 1/2 hr. I think I fell asleep for part of the trip. We put on our ear pieces and headed to the palace. Way more people than this morning. We had 8 this morning and now I think at least 20 and no one has Canadian manners.
It took at least 1/2hr to go through the palace. Lots of nooks and crannies to look into. Lots of stairs as well. After we got through the palace and were let loose we headed off in search of a gelato shop. Found one and had to sit and watch the world go by while savouring the cone.
Then back on the bus and out to Cabo de Roca – most westerly point in Europe and kind windy too. Then to Cascais, a beach town for the rich and famous. Ian Fleming creates James Bond at the casino.
Finally back into Lisbon and the bus stop. They did not drop us at our hotel. We had to walk back – poor us, a whole mile, but up hill – lol.
Made it back without an issue, stopped at a store on the way and bought a coke to drink when we got back. Got some ice from the bar and enjoyed a cold coke after a 12 hr day.
