Finally made it home, but not for lack of trying.
I must say after driving about 7,000 KM, the worst drivers that we encountered, were right here in Alberta. North of Calgary on Highway 2 was bad. People whizzing in and out of traffic, a motorbike trying to pass us while we were passing a big semi, and then when he got by us, did the same thimg to another car and semi. And then the traffic in Edmonton this afternoon – where did all the people come from.
It was worse than driving in Sacramento in 8 lanes of traffic in rush hour. At least in Sacramento the drivers are courteous and know what they are doing, here they don’t care about anyone but themselves and how they can get to where they are going the fastest and with a cell phone in the hands – I thought we had a distracted drivng law ????
The fire we got past last night, started at 5 PM, so just before we got there, it came up and over the ridge and was bearing down on parts of Helena Montana. There was some road closures, but not the interstate, but the visibility was terrible. The fire was still not under control this morning.
We got home to heavy clouds and the possibility of rain. The temp difference is about 30F downward. From about 34C to 20C, and no sun.
Anyway, safe and sound and I still have money left – that is a plus.
Now to plan the next adventure.
