7 white horses

Up and out the door early this morning. On the road at 8:00. We traveled for 2 hours before we stopped.
We stopped at Cong. The one tea shop opened especially for us. We had fresh brownies straight from the oven. Then we rushed outside and down around the corner, followed the stream to a bridge. We crossed over the bridge into a great forest. It was quiet, except for us ooing and awing at the trees. We would have liked to stay here all day, but we had to press on.
Back across the bridge and into the ruins of an old Abby. Wandered around there for a couple of minutes, and then we had to hurry back to the coach. We went across country through the Connemara region, beside Lough Corrib. Beautiful lough (lake) with 365 islands. Photo stop complete with a white horse!
Back on the coach and off to Galaway for lunch. Galaway is a vibrant city – tour guide talk for very busy tourist trap. We wandered the streets and then settled on one tea shop. As we sat more of our group came in to join us. The food was great. We wandered a bit more and then settled on a short wall to await the coach. One of our group joined us, she had bought a small travelling guitar, so she pulled it out and started to play. We thought we should put down a hat and get some beer money.
We pressed ever onward, but stopped at a marble factory. Some really nice marble, we wandered back and forth across a busy road (toilets on one side, factory on the other.
Toward Limerick. Tonight we went to the Shannon Castle Banquet. We were lead up a narrow winding staircase and presented with Mead when we got there. There was a violinist and harpist playing while we looked at the great hall. Then after the drink, we had to go back down teh narrow winding staircase. One of the ladies in waiting said to let the burly men go first, then if we fall they can catch us.
Into the banquet hall and a 4 course dinner without utensils, except a knife. The food was good and the entertainment was even better. Fantastic singing without the aid of electronics.
From there we were taken to our hotel in Limerick, with a short city tour on the way. Lots of really really old buildings here – from the 1200’s.
Now about the 7 white horses, the saying goes if a young maiden sees 7 white horses in 1 day, then she will be wed by Christmas. If she sees 14 white horses, she will be wed and with child by Christmas, and if she sees 21 white horses, she will be wed, pregnant and divorced by Christmas.
I saw 11, good thing I am not a young maiden any longer!!!
