Oregon Coast

Another day of stopping and starting. We didn’t travel that far yesterday. We got to Lincoln City on the coast. Went around in a circle in Portland – missed the exit, of well I needed to stop at a bathroom anyway. Finally got on the right road, and off toward the coast. Once we got there, we checked into a hotel and then went to find supper. Found Galluccis, and had pizza for supper – very good.
Then off to find the sunset – nope – no sunset, just grey. Went to the lighthouse just north of Newport, nice, we have been here before. We wandered around for a bit, saw a whale breaching, and then wandered back to the hotel.
To bed early.
Today we grabbed breakfast – they had real eggs at the hotel, and then off to find the sun. Had to go a long way, lots of fog and low lying clouds. Stopped 4 or 5 times along the way to take photos. Stopped at another lighthouse and went for a walk. Nice walk through the trees up to the lighthouse. Another whale breaching. Stopped at a small beach and had crackers and cheese for lunch, as we are going to have a big supper.
The fog gradually cleared and the blue sky appeared – for a while. We found a hotel for the night and then went looking for the “Hungry Clam” for fish and chips. Found it without too much of a problem. Food was great.
Then to find some cold beer and head back to the hotel for the night.
Hopefully there will be sun in California.

  1. Well, Keith is very jealous of you! Not only are you at his favorite spot – Brookings, but you are eating at one of his favorite restaurants!!!! He would love to go back there – even without the trailer he said!!!! Have fun and hope you find the sun soon!
