Not a bad night, not much rolling around. Beds we hard and I was cold so I took the duvet from one of the upper bunk.
The shower was interesting, I would have had to get out of it to change my mind. But it was a nice hot shower.
Then we braved the hoard for breakfast. Lots of pushing and elbowing. There are a lot of Asians on this ferry, and it seems they all need to get there first. One butted in line in front of me, and I said sure got ahead and butt in that’s ok!! And she turned and left, so either she understood the language or the tone. Lots of food, the basic breakfast stuff and good.
We have our gear all packed and now up to the top deck to watch as we come into port.
Very windy on deck and cold. Watched as we sailed in between two battlements. Wandered down the deck the gang plank was on and milled about through all the people and ended up right by the doors. Stood around for 15 minutes before they got the gang plank connected with the ship. Then got pushed forward as they opened the doors. Everyone has to be out the door first. We got out and found Chad and waited again for all our group to get off.
Now for a tour of Helsinki. I am trying not to be mean, but this is a boring place. We stopped st the Olympic Stadium from the 50’s. Then at a sculpture in the park that was surrounded by Asians standing around with their hands in the air getting their photos taken and then leaving. The sculpture was supposed to “sing” in the wind, but I had my head up a pipe and I didn’t hear anything.
Onward to the downtown area where we get released. No one really wanted to go, only 10 and windy.
We wandered to the outdoor market, looked around for a bit and then headed into the indoor one to find lunch. We picked up a sandwich and some cokes and headed outside to eat. We sat in the outdoor cafe – we were the only people there, but we were out of the wind.
Wandered up the street looking for the Christmas store to buy some elves – but they cost too much. We’ll wait for Santa’s Village – where it will cost more. I bought 3 moose key chains.
Back on the coach and to the hotel. Forgot how the European’s write a 1 and thought our key didn’t work. We were trying the wrong room – 437 instead of 431. Oopps.
We have a handicap room. I don’t know how a handicapped person could make it to this room. The room is big and the whole bathroom is the shower. Nice and big and the toilet has fold down arm rests.
