So when we got back to the hotel we found our beds turn down and chocolates on our pillows. This happened in Madrid as well I think I could get used to this lifestyle.
Same routine up early and off to breakfast, except we aren’t leaving today. We are wandering around Lisbon.
Breakfast was great – custard tarts – and all the other stuff.
We hopped on the coach and off for the city tour. We went through the centre and then to the river. We saw a couple of monuments for the discoveries – Magellan, Vasco de Gama etc. Then across the street to see a
Monastery. That was gorgeous- high ceilings and lots of columns and arches. We dropped off 6 people and headed out of town along the river toward coast.
We stopped at the National Palace if Queluz. Wandered through there for a while. The Queen at the time had it built like Versailles in France. Nice gardens.
From the we continued to the Portuguese Rivera. Nice place, palm trees etc. At Casacais we stopped for 1 1/2 hrs. We wandered a bit and then had lunch at John Bull – a little restaurant. Ham a chicken and pineapple sandwich. Nice.
We wandered on down towards the beach where I photo bombed some of our group. Then all of us took off for the ice cream place.
The ice cream was OK but it was it really really good. It wasn’t gelato just ice cream. We made our way back to the coach sit around and waited for Tino to show up at exactly the appointed time. We all clambered on the bus all needing a little bit of rest.
Then we took a tour up past the point of no return basically were civilization sort of ended and it went into basically the Atlantic ocean big rocks gigantic waves very little sand we stop for a photo op. The wind was really blowing but it was nice considering it’s about 30° out and we had all just wandered around a little town with little shade.
Back on the coach and up through the Sintra mountain range which is not that tall but Rocky and lots of trees and bamboo for trees eucalyptus stuff like that. Then we got back onto the motorway and made our way back toward Lisbon.
We had about an hour and a half to rest and relax and get ready to go out for supper. Back down and on the couch and off we went down to the centre of Lisbon lots of traffic wall-to-wall traffic. It took us about 3/4 of an hour to get to the ferry. We hopped on the ferry and went across the river to the other side which is called the left Bank.
We got off the ferry and walked uphill not very far maybe 50 feet and were met by two waiters holding big trays full of beer and saying welcome yeah.
I grabbed a beer and said that you had into the restaurant we went. This restaurant was a seafood restaurant so there was about four of us it said no we don’t want any seafood. There are three types of wine on the table red wine or white wine and a green wine. I drink my beer and then started on the green wine no one else drank any.
I had cheese and Spanish him for my basically appetizer I guess everyone else had shrimp clams or muscles and then crab for the main dish. I had steak and chips and a salad and rice it was very good. Then those that ate seafood got two more dishes one that looked like a soup with rice in it and all the leftover seafood and then the other was cod all kind of mashed up with something on it.
For dessert we had some fruit pineapple mango and oranges with whip cream on top. Then a little glass of port and an espresso the end the night.
No one was feeling any pain when we titled out of the restaurant up the steps and right into the coach. We made our way back to Lisbon via the big bridge which is called the April 25 bridge it looks like the Golden Gate.
Now we need to get everything all organized and ready to go for tomorrow because we have an early wake up call 6 AM
Now for some crappy news when I first decided to go on this trip I thought I wouldn’t take a camera with me just use my phone well it looks like tomorrow that’s all I’m doing is using my phone. My little D3300 seems to have crapped out, it’s broken. Tomorrow our hotel is supposedly across the street from the best place to buy any electronics so I’ll go in there and take a look at what they have. I might buy a new camera or just stick with the phone either way it was a crappy way to end the day.
