Crawled out of bed this morning at 6, so we could go down and have an early breakfast with our friends on the other tour. We said our good byes and headed off.
We left at 8:30 for Córdoba. It took about 1 1/2 hrs to get there. The trip there was foggy, and we thought it would be cool – ha!
We met our local tour guide – 3rd generation tour guide. She was great, lots of info. We spent a lot of time in the Mosque/Cathedral- it was huge and amazing. It started as a mosque and the Catholics took it over, but didn’t destroy anything. Huge columns with red stripes, created to remind the guys that made it if their home.
From there we wandered around through small streets till we got to the synagogue. That was tiny compared to the Cathedral. Then we made our way back through the winding streets to our starting point. We were let go for 1 1/2hr to get lunch but stuff and use the bathrooms.
We grabbed some gelato on the way back to the coach- we needed it.
The temps for the last 4 days have been in the low 30’s, climbing to 39 yesterday and today. A little warmer than expected.
Tonight we are going for a tapas night and then a carriage ride back to the hotel. We are both a little pooped, but in the next couple of days the pace slows down, so we should get a little rest.
On the coach and off we go. We made a stop at building that was built for the World’s Fair, was only supposed to last 6 months – it’s still standing, and is used in movies as a palace. We spent about 20 minutes there, I photo bombed a couple, I don’t think he was impressed, so I offered to take their photo for them.
Back on the coach and over to a restaurant that has been in business since 1640. In the same family for 8 generations.
They met us with sangria- good stuff and then we made our way upstairs to our private dining room. We had about 8 different tapas, and I didn’t get any fishy ones. Nothing there that really impressed me. The beer was good and so was the cheesecake for desert.
Once we were out of the restaurant we loaded ourselves into horse & buggies. And off for a 40minute ride through the old town. The four of us were a little cramped, but it was fun.
Back at the hotel, we crashed – early start tomorrow.
