Sunday Our last day in Costa Rica, after we got up we kind of organized and then went for breakfast.
We took a cappuccino down to the guy at the snuba place (where we got the kayaks) and he gave us his keys to his house and said go stay there, I don’t care. Then I said we could cook and clean for him and he said yeah that would do just fine.
We went to check our flight with the Sunwing rep, he said you ladies are taken care of, don’t worry about a thing. Our ride to the airport is still at 2:00, flight at 6:00, a stop in Calgary to change planes and customs, then home at who knows when.
We checked out of our room just before noon. We found a comfy spot in the front of the hotel with a breeze. Started loading the bus to the airport at 2:00, and left for the airport at 2:30. At the airport at 3:15, paid our exit tax and then stood in line at the Sunwing counter. They had computer problems – what a surprise. I got asked for my passport while I was in line, no one behind us, then got told to go to the back of the next line. I said no, I was here first and I’m not going to the back of the line, he said ok. Finally got checked in, got the seats we booked, then through Costa Rican customs, through security and onto the gate. Waited for a couple of hrs for the flight. Lots of confusion at the gate – more double booking- someone said that there were hardly any seats for the Edmonton passengers. Boarded late, took a long time to load everyone, more double bookings. Leaving about 1.2 hr late. Got into Calgary at 12:40AM. Calgary passengers got off first. Then we got off and directly onto the plane going to Edmonton. And waited till everyone was on. And waited even longer for fuel. And then waited for de-icing. While de-icing then turned on the air and the cabin promptly fill with chemical smell and smoke. People got very excited!! The flight attendants got everyone settled down and we moved a bit, then sat again. Got de-iced again and finally down the runway and in the air at 2:22. On the ground at 2:56, and in and through customs at 3:26. Out the door, into a taxi and through the cold snowy night home. From +32 to -24 and snow ??
