Madrid

May 7
We wandered Madrid today – wandered the Royal Palace of Madrid, before the ordinary public was let in. Wow, those royality know how to live.

Then we took off for Toledo – the old capital of Spain.

We wandered the cobblestone streets like a herd of tourists, gawking at everything.

Wandered through the Catherdral of Toledo. The old city is located on a mountaintop, surrounded on three sides by a bend in the Tagus River, and contains many historical sites, including the Alcázar, the cathedral (the primate church of Spain), and the Zocodover, a central marketplace.

Some of my relatives will be happy to know that I have been to church 3 times in the last week, and even said a prayer for everyone.
We got back to the hotel around 5 pm, and are all tuckered out, this walking slowly wears a person out.
Now to find some night life – not hard, I don’t think the 4.5 million people who live in Madrid, went to bed last night. They were all outside our hotel partying.
Photos later…… I need a cervesa Por favor /por fa’bor/ (pour fah-VOAR)
Ok, so no beer, we went out for a real Spanish meal, to the place next door – McDonalds – we were too tired to try and order something that wasn’t fish for supper, and everyone knows Big Mac and fries & a coke.
I have been able to aford a coke now and then. I’ve only found 1 place where it was 4,50E for a bottle. Mostly it is around 1,60E a bottle. SO I am not going through caffine withdrawal. All I would have to do is have a cup of coffee, they like their coffee stong.
Right now I am sitting in the hotel room, and listening to the guys out on the street play some good music. This place never stops. We have a soccer team staying in the hotel, they played against Real Madrid today, and all around the front door were fans waiting to get a glimpse of any of the players.
