ROAD TRIP….. Up at 3, and on the road by 4:30. It was still dark. We wandered off, and got a little confused by the construction at one point, but after asking about which way to go ( asked a truck driver), we were off in the right direction.
The scenery changed every couple of hundred Ks. At one point there were lots of cactus, hugh things, about 10 or 15 feet high all along the road. Then cottome fields, then open range, some wheat fields (the crop had already been taken off). Lotsof sheep and cattle along the way.
Neither Vicki or I could seem to keep our eyes open, we slept off and on most of the way.
We stopped at Nebranbri to go through the Cottom museum. They sure have a lot of water restrictions, and they seem to do a lot of water conservation. But with so many water restrictions, there isn’t much of a crop. This part of NSW is in a drought. Very different than at Port Douglas.
We stopped at Coonbrangbee for lunch. First we went into a pub, to use the bathroom, so we had to have a lemon squash, as the toilets are for patrons only. It was a local hangout, as all the old guys were there making bets on the horse and dog races, that were shown on TV.
Then to a small cafe and we had a burger – hugh again – but very good. No bathrooms, but they let me in behind the counter to wash my hands.
We got to Sue & John’s around 5:30. John was making a salad for us. Sue had already left for her meeting. We had a good supper, adn spent time talking. Ross and John went down to the shed to see his car, and I took photos of the bright green frog that was by the door.
After Sue came home we sat and had tea and talked some more. We brought out our book of the Europe tour, and that set off more discussions of our trip. We were all tired, so we wandered off to bed about 10:30.
