Hi from Budapest

I found an Internet Cafe, so the rest went shopping, and I get to sit on the net.
…..
Well here is a quick run down of where I have been and what I have been doing for the last 10 days or so – party, party, party !
Long flight to London, then a quick trip from Terminal 4 to Terminal 1, and then some shopping – my Aunt likes to shop.

We were in Heathrow about 4 hrs and then on to Budapest.
We got into Budapest about 6 pm, and waited around for the baggage. My Great Aunt and her son/grandson and the rest didn’t get their luggage, they barely made the plane. Mine showed up-amazing.
Then onto the 20 passenger bus they brought to pick us up, and off into the night to Kecsked, where we were met by about 30 of our closest relatives. Beer and wine everywhere – wahoo!!
This week we stay at Andrash and Irene’s place.
We went for a walk in the morning to get an idea of how the town is laid out. Then on to visit and drink. Thats all the guys seem to do here is drink. My 2 cousins from Canada are having a hard time keeping up with the guys here. All my family here have grape fields and make their own wine – good stuff – some of it.

I have to sit and think about what I have done…… it has been so much.
This place is so different than Canada. Well I guess when you are related to almost eveyone in the village….. it’s a little different than not knowing who lives down the block.
Anyway, a party everynight the first week. One the night we arrived. One the next night just because, a bbq at the lake.

One on Friday for everyone. Andy (my cousin) also donated new uniforms to the soccer team, so there was a soccer game, us (all relatives) against the village soccer team. We won. Then a big supper in the school gym. Gulyas, cooked outside in big kettles, over an open fire.

Then Saturday was the big day.
The Bishop was in town to bless the alter. The alter and the Stations of the Cross are all made of cherry wood, and trimmed with solid gold. In the middle of the alter is a piece of marble that contains relics of martyrs. The across the street to the Culture House, and another big meal. After which was much singing and dancing. All my male relatives, young and old always sing. This was a long day, and a longer night.

Barely got to bed and it was time to get up and go to church – again.
I got up in the choir loft after to get some photos.

Then off to someones house to sit and talk and laugh.

I can’t remember everything that I have done, as I don’t have my journal with me. We have visited a few towns in the area.
I’ve seen a couple of castles. Wandered around some lakes – taken about 3000 photos so far.

The weather here is great about 20-22 every day, but it cools down to about 5 at night.
We are now staying with my cousin Nushi and her husband Feri (Frankie-boy). It is quiter this week, not many parties, so I can sort of catch up of everything that has happened.
Today we are touring Budapest – WOW – spent a couple of hours wandering around the old castle/fort up on the hill, now we are across the river and in the shopping district.

I’ve bought a lot – 2 tshirts.
O well, time to go look at something else.

I might be able to update this once more before I get home. Where we are staying next week, they are supposed to have “internet” so I might have access again.
later……. Jean
