the big day has arrived…….

What a day, we are all still vertical, and no one was hurt playing a game.
First game at 08:30 – cool, but sunny – we lost, we were mercied – o well,
Second game at 11:10 – warmer and sunny, no clouds, lost with the time limit.
Third game, 13:50 – really warm and sunny, we lost, but we should have won.
Fourth game, 16:30 – we won’t talk about except we lost, and it was really warm.
Then we piled in the car, and off to the park for a Western dinner and dance. The food was good, and the music was too. Dorthy, Dianne, Francee and Judy still had enough get up and go, to get up and dance, and some strange old man asked Vicki to dance.
We packed it in early, and left for the hotel. Some for a hot tub, and the rest of us, were invited by Grace’s social secretary to come by for a drink. So we did.
Vicki and Jean took off with Eric to see when we play tomorrow – 12:30 at Little Valley #1 against some team.
Now for some stories of the day…….
We did have one person hurt, but not during a game. After the first game we wandered over to a covered picnic area. There was another team out on the grass having what looked like hitting practice.
They saw us go over there, but continued to hit the ball toward us. There was a guy standing by the tables, and he said he would catch anything – next hit ball, he just watched it sail toward us, didn’t say anything, and Vicki got hit in the back top of the head.
Dropped her like a stone, well she corkscrewed slowly down onto the cement – face first. The team picked up their gear and ran away, like little kids when they break a window. Didn’t even come over to see if she was ok.
Dorothy brought over a cold bottle of water, but Vicki told her she didn’t want it dumped on her. First aid showed up, but we were more prepared then the student nurses that showed up.
To make a long story short, Vicki is fine, except for the bump, which you can see the stitches of the ball, on the top back of her head, and a bump on her forehead, from hitting the cement.
Believe it or not, I (jean), got a triple in the first game and I ran the whole way, they overthrew third, and I looked at Al, and said no way am I going home.
We got a couple of double plays – who knew old women could run that fast, and for that matter hit the ball that hard. Judy had a long day running out, then running in.
We had a good day, and looked like a team.
