A full day wandering The City

Well after going to bed early, we also slept in and missed breakfast !!
We finally got moving around 11, taking the bus to Trafalgar Square to pick up our London Passes. The bus drivers drive like crazy people, I guess it seems that way because the streets are so narrow.
After we picked up our passes we figured we should get something to eat, so we walked around the corner and the street was filled with little resturants. We picked on and sat down and enjoyed a croissant with ham and cheese. And somehow a piece of sticky toffe cake landed on our table as well.
Now that we are refreshed, we checked the map and off we went to the Chruchill War Room. We wandered past where the Horse Guards keep the horses toward the museum.
We spent an hour or so wandering around the maze of rooms. Lots of kids running about, must be a bank holiday!
From there we walked down to Westminster Abby, and there wasn’t a lineup, so in we went and wandered about with a lot of other people. Couldn’t take any photos in the abby itself, but at the back at the gardens I went click happy for a bit. Nice old buildings, almost too many people in the way.
We ended up out the back and had to find our way out to the street and over the bridge to look at the river and Big Ben, or whatever the name is now. At that point I had had enough of all the people pushing and getting in the way – only took me 1 morning!!
We hoped on a bus that was supposed to go back to the Marble Arch, only we were n the wrong side of the street, so we toured South London, and had to get off, and onto another bus to get back the way we came. It took us about 1.5 hr to get back to the hotel, but we saw a lot of London we wouldn’t have seen on any tour.
We took off our cameras and regrouped and off to the pub for supper. The waitress recognized us so we are in her good books. The burgers were good, and so was the ale.
It was a short day of sightseeing, but we made the most of the time. We are both tired, and I am grumpy – I think it is a lack of water.
