Sept 9
I forgot about our trip to the department store yesterday afternoon. After we go back to the hotel from Cordova we dropped off our stuff and decided to go find some screwdrivers to see if I can take apart my camera. We walked about a block and a half and there is a huge department stores so when we went in.
Huge place look like what Hudsons Bay and Eatons used to look like. We went through and looked at the glasses but no screwdrivers there cause I need a little one. Then we found the optical department, they looked and couldn’t find any screwdrivers so they sent us up to the photography department.
We wondered around a bit looking lost and finally asked this guy and he took us to the hardware department where he found a set of tiny screwdrivers. We look through them and found the cheapest set which was five euros. We paid for them and then wandered back to the hotel.
I fiddled around with the camera trying to get the back bottom plate off for about a half an hour and didn’t work so who knows. It worked for a little while yesterday morning so I got some shots inside the cathedral mask but who knows how much longer it’s going to last. I’ll keep playing around with it and see if I can get it apart to find the shutter motor will see if I can fix it.
I guess I’m stuck with the iPhone for photos for the rest of the trip. Which was what I was planning on doing in the first place. The huge building we went to last night was built for the 1929 World Exposition.
Same routine this morning up got ready put her cases out and then down for breakfast back up quick sweep of the room make sure we got everything and then down and out on the coach and away we go to the Rock Gibraltar this morning.
We made a midmorning pitstop at a local place that Tony said was really authentic Spanish. There was a fruit seller outside selling delicious fruit so I think just about everybody on the bus bought some. I got some prune plums and are they ever good.
Back on the bus and off to Gibraltar. We had to go through two sets of immigration once the Spanish to get out and then to Gibraltar to get in. Gibraltar is still in the English colony but we didn’t get a stamp and our passport darn. We jumped on some many buses and away we went on a tour we climbed up the side of the rock about as high as any tourist can go. The very top of the rock is still military so no tours get together. We stopped and went into St. Michael’s Cave it’s similar to the caves that we’ve been to the North America lots stalagmites and stalactites. They have the place lit up with different coloured lights that puts on a bit of a show. It looks like they put on musicals in there because there was tons of different places to sit and lots of chairs around. We wandered through watching the the light show and I took a Tonna pictures the camera seems to be working for a bit will see how far we get with it today. We came outside expecting to see the Barbary apes all over the place but nope no such luck no monkeys today.
We hop back on the many buses and went down the rock and around to the main square of Gibraltar where all the shops are in restaurants are. This part of the rock used to be underwater but they’ve reclaimed the area.we had an hour and a half to wander around and shop and grab a quick lunch. We walked up and down the street didn’t really find anything there was a lot of people wandering around aimlessly not just us. We came back down the street and settled for fish and chips at the rock fish and chip place. The chips were good the fish was OK.
We wandered back to the meeting place and hopped on the minibuses and got taken back to go through border patrol again. But we ended up waiting for a plane to take off. Seems the road went right across the runways of the airport that will was built during the second world war. I went through passport control without a problem wandered across the street and hopped on our coach where Antoni was patiently waiting for us.
We then drove for about another hour and a half and we’re at the Costa Del Sol now. Palm trees and a long beach. Looks great.
We all piled off the bus and into the hotel and stood around waiting for our keys. Up to the room and we decided we were not really moving anywhere too fast so we sat around and waited for the bags to come and then got ready and went down for free drink for being such loyal customers.
Then into the dining room for supper. It was a buffet and man o man was there a lot of food. Every kind of meat you wanted, lots of fish, tons of pasta, very few vegetables. The desserts were pretty good to. The wine was free flowing. We sat around and talked for a couple of hours while we were finishing our supper, and then decided we needed to go walk on the beach.
First we had to find our way out of the hotel. This hotel has two towers and the reception in the pool and everything else being in between the problem is the reception and the dining room is on minus one the reception is on zero and you have to figure out which direction you need to go to get to your tower.
We wandered out to the pool to begin with and then we had to go back in and laundry some more in One Direction or the other to find a door which led pass the exercise room which we looked at and then kept on going. He finally made our way out to the street and across and onto the beach we all took off our shoes and socks and wandered into the water, it’s seemed to be cold at first but then it was warm. We wandered down the beach in and out of the water, walking and talking, and then decided where the heck are we and where is our hotel, so we turned around went up onto the street and wandered back till we figured out which was our hotel. We wandered in and said good night and went to our rooms and relaxed.
