Tall Ships

WOW – we’ve seen the ships.
Ok, so we’ve made it up through California, Oregon and Washington, and back into Canada. The trip was ok. We stopped at the Olive Pit on Corning, and then the Lavendar farm by Weed on Tuesday. What a fantastic view from there. It was amazing place, they said that when the smoke clears, you can see 5 mountain ranges. We must have been in a time warp, because it took us until 9 pm to get to Salem. I didn’t think it was that far – o well.
Wednesday we decided we wanted to be back in Canada, so we really didn’t stop, except for a sandwich in a rest stop, where there were some buddist monks taking a break as well.
We breezed through customs at the Peace Arch, and found a motel in Ladner. There was a pub, and it was Wing wednesday, so we had wings from supper. We are not use to it being light late at night. In California, it is dark around 9 pm.
Thursday, we got up a little earlier than we had planned, and decided to get on an earlier Ferry. We arrived in time for lunch. After 3 pm, we wandered down to the wharf area and checked out the Tall Ships.
Friday morning we were down at the wharf in line waiting for them to open the gates. We lined up and saw 3 smaller ships, then wandered over to get on the U.S. Coast Guard training ship – 290 ft long. Then we grabbed a smoky for lunch, and then stood in line for 1.25 hrs to get on The Bounty. After we got off, we figured that long a wait, adn the ship wasn’t worth it – we didn’t to go below.
We got back to the house and sat out on the back deck in the shade, and whined that our feet were sore.
