Up at 5:30, some vacation, no sleeping in. A couple of wet landings, some snorkelling, kayaking and hill climbing. O goody, where’s the laying on the beach doing nothing part??
Well we got the beach part this morning. Two beautiful beaches, and we were the first ones one them. Where we landed there was a seal to meet us. We walked down to a viewing place to see one flamingo, and it flew off while we were there. Nice reflections.
Then we walked up to a lookout of the lagoon, there were about 9 flamingos, and one nesting – far away – pink dots on blue water.
Around to the other beach where there were two turtles resting after laying their eggs last night. Again, we were the first ones there, no footprints in the sand.
While we were there one of them decided she had had enough of us silly gringos, so back to the water she went. The ugly photographer viewed it’s ugly head in the group. I was amazed at how aggressive they could, trying to get the perfect shot. I went to the water to wait for her and got waved away 5 minutes later because I was in someone’s shot. I said paybacks are a bitch! You’ve been in mine for the last 2 weeks. Anyway I moved to the other side down to the water and they all followed.
We headed slowly back and jumped on the panga back to the Samba. We hauled anchor to move to Champion Island to snorkel. We stayed on the Samba, I am tired of getting run over by the other snorkelers. Laid in the sun for a while.
Lunch was great. Special Ecuadorian soup. Then deep fried shrimp and chicken with French fries and salad and veggies.
Now for a nap.
Our schedule changed because there was 3 other boats here. We went for a sit on the beach. Some went snorkelling others climbed to the Baroness’s Lookout. I wandered the beach taking photos and just taking in the scenery. Then over to Postoffice Bay to go through postcards and see if we can deliver any. We found 3 for Alberta, but only took 1. It is for a 1st grade class in Canmore, so when the weather is good we take a drive down there.
Back on board for supper and a briefing. Supper was ok, but I was facing backwards, should not have done that. Then I sat sideways for the briefing, another bad idea. Then we started our 5 hour navigation across to Espanola Island.
The navigation is terrible.
