Sunshine – the rain – again

The day started out good, blue sky and sunshine, then turned cloudy as we traveled toward Cardiff.
This morning we got a tour of the centre of Chester. This city dates back to the Roman era. They have uncovered an amphitheater near the center when they were building a new road, the road has a big curve in it. They knew how to shop way back when, they had 2 tiered shops down the street.
The city walls are still intact, so we walked along them for a bit. We only had a couple of hours so we made the most of it, tearing around.
We stopped in at the Cathedral, saying a few prayers and then rushing on to the next thing. As we headed out of Chester we could see the clouds forming on the horizon, and we were going toward them.
Ludlow was our next destination. We stopped for lunch in the pouring rain. We wandered into a restaurant, had a sandwich, availed ourselves of the facilities and then charges out into the streets in the rain. Did I mention it was raining – again!
They have some very narrow streets, barely wide enough for a small car to drive down. Dylan pointed us in the direction of the river, and told us not many tourists go there, so off we went. More narrow winding streets. We made it back to the coach on time, and away we went toward Cardiff.
It poured the whole trip. Was raining when we got in. Tonight we are going to the castle for supper and a tour. It should be good.
The castle was amazing. We toured about 5 rooms – wow! Then down to the main hall and a glass of mead before supper and a show. Great singing and lots of fun. Two of our group were part of the show. We laughed most of the night. It was still raining when we came out, but we laughed all the way back to the hotel.
And again, you can’t get 17 tourists and a stranger in an elevator!

  1. Wow! You seem to have had lots of rain on this trip. I’m thinking if you were to go again you would perhaps pick a different time of year? Even with all the rain, it sounds like you are having a agreat time. Unbelievable that it is almost time for you to come home. See you next week!
