May 2
Awake again at two in the morning except this time we did it on our own, we didn’t have to get a text. Rolled around for at least an hour and then finally back to sleep. Up at 7 o’clock looks like it snowed out last night – o well.
Breakfast was really good I had French toast Vicky had fresh eggs yay. We organized our stuff and out to the car, set the GPS and away we went on snow covered roads.
The sun is shining so the snow on the roads melted quite quickly. We stopped off and on to take pictures of horses and reflections in the water with the snow on the volcanoes.

Got back to a town that we knew had a gas station and filled up the car – ouch $89 according to a conversion table. We hoped that we only have to fill up maybe one more time. Onward towards our next set of lava caves that we’re going to. There is blue sky and white puffy clouds.

Off we went and the road got narrower and turned to gravel, well rock. We stopped once at a small waterfall and then onto Vidgelmir Cave. We changed the time to an hour sooner than we were supposed to take the tour. There were only 6 of us and the guide. Good thing, there were 18 on the later tour. It’s a lava tube and an ice cave. Pretty neat. Lots of ice formations. This cave had a boardwalk throughout. It was easier to navigate than yesterday. Way more stairs though, but wooden and not circular.
From there we headed back toward our hotel for the night. We took a different road, so it was paved the whole way.
At the hotel, they upgraded us to a superior room, bigger and a nice view.

We brought in our goodies from the supermarket and made sandwiches for supper. We still don’t have a knife, so I ate a tomato like an apple, except when I bit into it, I shot seeds and juice all over the wall. That was good, because it wasn’t on my shirt.

We wandered back out to search for some good light near sunset. Found the church, took a couple of shots and then went over to the bridge to see if there was anything. Took a few photos, but called it a night and went back to the hotel. There are some nice views out the back, so I might get some more photos later.
