We are up and packed (again), and ready to go to the airport and fly up to Cairns, and then on to Port Douglas.
No we will not be near any of the fires, we will actually be farther away. No we are not near the last shark attack, and we will be north of the flooding.
Everyone is bored, sitting around the house. So off we go to the beach to have a coffee.
We went down to Brighton Beach, where there were some dolphins swimming off the peir. We stopped and walked out to the end, but by the time we got there, they were heading away. Took some long shot, and then back in the car and over to the sitport. Carla dropped us off, and then came in to have a coffee with us.
Their airport at Adelaide is a bit different, anyone can go through the security checkpoint for a domistic flight. We got a coffee and a danish and sat and yaked for a bit.
On the plane and away we go to Sydney first. We got offf the plane walked into the terminal and then got back on the same plane to go to Cairns. Even though we left a bit late, we got into Cairns early. No one around to pick us up.
I phoned GoWay, and he said the guy was on his way. He didn’t show up until 6, and then it was a hair raising ride up the coast to Port Douglas. Thank god I ate gravol, otherwise I would have been throwing up all the way.
We got dropped off at the hotel, and no one was at the desk (hopefully this is not going to be a trend for everything here) – there was an envelope with my name on it to tell us what room and how to get there. So up the stairs and around the corner to our room. It looks nice and clean. This is an apartment hotel, with no room service, so I have to make my bed every day. We dropped our bags and were off to find food.
It looks like they roll up the streets early here, most of the stores are already closed, and it is only 7 pm. We walked up to the main street and then spyed an ice cream place. But we were good, we walked on by looking for real food. Just as we thought we wouldn’t find anything, we saw a Coles, and hustled our butts there in case they were closing, they weren’t. We stocked up on crackers and cheese and “real food”, then started to wander back, but stopped at a fish & chip place and split a hamburger & chips. That was either really good, or we are very hungry.
Back down the street, and over to the ice cream place to check out the internet cafe, and of course have desert. The ice cream was good. Back to the hotel to find our what we need to have ready for tomorrow.
We are both kinda tired, it was a long day. We have the air conditioner cranked up and the ceiling fan up to speed to cool off the room.
We read all the stuff we are going to do in the coming week, adn started to get organized.
