I got up about 7, grabbed a banana and a cup of chocolate milk and sat out on the balcony and read all about Port Douglas. Danger Will Robson, there are scotter for rent….. o boy I think I would like to rent some on one of the days that we have free.
There isn’t any internet connection for the room, so I will have to go to the internet cafe to upload photos adn update the blog.
Got ready to go to the reef, and then wandered down to the desk to get the key for the safe. Chatted with teh couple that are managing the place, talking about what to see and do.
Then off to the reef for the day. We got picked up and driven to the wharf.
Onto the catamaran and out into the ocena, about 72 k to the outer reef – Agincourt Reef. As we tried to go into the water we were told that the jellyfish are in high season, and we should be wearing lycra suits, so back over to get a couple. We both look like big smurfs, actually so does everyone. Into the water we go, the water temp is 29.
The waves are a bit ruff. We floated and snorkeled around, trying to get out of everyones way. No one seems to look where they are going. Just push forward, and if I hit something, just keep going and it will move. The water is nice. We snorkled over to one side and were by oursleve, for a bit, until the herd followed us.
We got out and had some lunch, it was a buffet. I didn’t have much as my stomache was a little quezy.
Back into the water and off we went, without too many people around, but within About 10 minutes, I was run over again, by some knucklehead. Anyway, lots of fish swimming about. The waves were getting a little higher, so we decided to head in a little early. Also to avoid the rush for the change rooms and showers.
We had to wait for a head count before we left the reef, once that was correct, we were off back to shore. I was feeling really crappy, So I stood most of the way back, in the window getting wind blown and wet from the spray. We hit land around 4:30, and walked back to the hotel.
We chatted with the manager for a bit, discussing the trip, and whinging about all the people on the reef. Back up to the room, and a sandwich for afternoon tea. We checked out the photos for the day.
Now to go up to the internet cafe and update everything.
