We slept in, well as much as I can sleep in. I was up at 7:30. Fixed breakfast – a cup of chocolate milk, a banana and a cup of custard pudding and a Tim Tam ( Australian chocolate covered cookie) – a good healthy breakfast.
Then out to sit on the balcony and listen to the birds and look at the photos again from yesterday.
Today we are going to take it easy and wander the town and see what there is to see. Later today were are going to Tjapukai Aboriginal Culture Park, for a night time show and dinner, and of course plenty of time to by stuff.
More about that later. Right now we are relaxing and taking it easy. It looks kinda overcast with lots of big clouds around. We got rained upon for 3 minutes when we frist went outside.
We wandered down the main street looking at stores along the way, and made our way back over to the wharf where we left from yesterday. From there we walked back to the hotel, and made a sandwich for lunch. After lunch we went for a walk to 4 Mile Beach, we wandered down the road looking for the beach access. It took us a while to find it, and by then becasue of the heat and humidity we were pretty well pooped.
We went back up the beach and foundaneasier way to get back to the hotel. There is a big cruise ship in town, it is anchored a ways out, it looks like one of the ones that was in Sydney.
Then back to the room to get organized for tonight. We got picked up and were the only ones on the bus back down to Cairns. The trip was much better that the trip up from the airport.
We got there a couple of minutes early and missed the face painting – ya. Then we were herded into their dream theatre for their dance to make fire. It was kinda neat with the digeredoo sounds. Into the hall and a buffet supper. The crowd tonight isn’t that big, only about 50 people, so not much pushing or shoving to get to the food, as tourists usually do.
After supper they did more dancing and explained what the dances were. I relly like the digerdoo sounds. I asked one of the guys afterwards about how to make the continous sounds. He said make a raspberry sound with your lips, and breath in through yournose – well that is very difficult. Our drive on the way home, said they pratice with a glass of water and a straw – blow bubbles and then breath in with stopping the bubbles – very difficult.
Anyway we got back safe and sound around 10, and got organized for tomorrow.
