O man what a day.
We got to sleep in till about 7:30, then down for breakfast. Almost all of us were there. We took Grace out to the cowboy shoot. We met up with Beverly, who we first met in the registration line up. She said she wasn’t having a good day.
Then back to the hotel to get ready for the game. As we were about to leave, we got a call that the venue had changed for the game.
We played at 12:30, and lost 14-11. We scored more runs in this game than we did in all our games combined yesterday.
Drats…. well now our plan was to go in the back door and win the game at 17:50.
So we pulled the car around to the closer parking lot, and dragged the cooler and all the lunch fixing over to the covered picnic area.
We rested and watched some other games. Vicki laid down, under cover, and a foul ball landed about 6 feet from her. We have to get her a helmet for in between games.
What a great ball park. There are 7 diamonds in this complex, with lots of cover seating.
So our next game, we were visitors. Our first at bat, we were looking into the sun – great. My excuse for not getting it out of the infield was the sun was in my eyes.
Even with a cap and sun glasses, I couldn’t see the throw from second – good thing there wasn’t any. The sun set behind the butte at the end of the first – ya!!
The game was probably our best we were hitting and making plays, even if the ump was one of the three blind mice. The other team and us grumbled, but didn’t ride the ump, at the end of 6 it was tie 9-9. He was very inconsistant. We didn’t know how he was going to call anything close.
We got 1 in the top of the 7th, and we gave them a couple of runs 🙁 so we lost 11-10.
We slumped off the field, but one of the other Canadian teams were there waiting to play, and they also said we would have won, if not for the umping – o well.
We dropped our gear in the car, and came back to watch the red team (Canada), beat the team that we just lost to.
Then back to the hotel for pizza, and talking. Some of the team went back ahead of us, and ordered pizza, and when we got back they were set up in the conference room.
We had a round table discussion about all the good things that happened in the last 2 days. What a great experience.
Thank you Foxy Spirits…….
Our colour is gold,
But we’re not old,
