the last day in St. George

We slept in, then down for breakfast. Then over to Canyon ball diamonds to watch the medal games – we should have been playing, but o well, next year.
The Canadian team from the lower mainland BC won bronze in our division. Another team from BC won bonze in the 65+ division. We wandered off to the Lockerroom to check out ball equipment, then to the Dixie Center, and back to the diamonds for softball social.
Hamburgers and salad and cookies. Some games in the higher divisions were still being played. The team the really beat us, won gold in the highest division.
Once the ball was done, Grace and Al left for vegas, we are going to have to start another rumor about those two.
Grace has so many rumors floating around. She has lost her voice and so has one of the umps we had on Thursday. We talked to him, and he was alright with the rumor.
The ump that made the bad call on Vicki booting the ball, came up and apoligized again. During the game, Vicki made a try at a hard grounder, got her foot in the way, it bounced into Dorothy’s glove, and then she tagged the runner on the head that was going to third. The ump said the runner was safe, because of the boot, the runner was upset that she got hit in the head. The ump said he was sorry after the game, and then again today.
We chatted with the team that beat us in our last game, they were from central California – nice ladys. Lat night we had talked about “senior moments”, and I talked about the movei up, where the dog is distracted by a squirrel, so now I think my nick name with this team is squirrel.
We talked to a women who is writing a book about “senior” women atheletes, she took our photo with Al and Eric. She lives in Eledrado Hills, not far from Sacramento, adn told us to llok her up next time when we are in town.
We decided to go for a wander in the red rocks again, so off to Snow valley. We wandered around on the petrified sand dunes, and then back to Jenny’s canyon to sit in the shade.
We made a stop at Walmart for goodies for the trip home.
Stopped by Dorothy’s room and then sat and chatted about the week, and all the fun, and the games.
Time for supper, so off the ten of us trooped to The Outback. Good food, and the manager bought us appetizers. We talked and laughed and then back to the hotel for more talking and laughing.
We all wandered to Dorothy’s room (Grace’s social secretary), and talked and laughed till we almost cried.
Then the goodbyes…… a little sad.
Tomorrow most of us are leaving, going our separate ways, to make our way back to Edmonton.
Lots of stories to be told and retold at a later date. And we need to get together to swap photos.
