A morning of driving around the city

We got up early – yes we did – 6:00. We had a tour this morning, around the city with a stop for the changing of the guard.
It wasn’t that good, compared to the one we had 7 years ago. We got picked up and then the bus drove picking up other people for tours. We ended up at the Victoria Station to wait for another bus and the tour. The tour started at 9:00 and ended about 12:00
We drove around the city looking at the outside of buildings which you really couldn’t see much of. We stopped at Albert Hall and a lot of people got off to take photos.
Then away again down through the expensive area looking at really new buildings or really old buildings, and not stopping.
Because of construction adn the driver going the wrong way we ended up in a traffic jam for about 20 minutes or so. We went around Trafalgar Square and then came back around again, and on down The Mall to stop and everyone get out and race down the street to get to the Palace before everything started.
One of the set of guards didn’t have their band, so it was a little of a let down, to see the red guys marching down the street and no music.
Then the band came out and marched into the Palace, adn the Horse Guards came down the Mall.
We wandered on back to the bus and back into the traffic around Trafalgar Square.
Most of the people on the bus were staying on for a full day of touring, hopfully they got more out of the afternoon. They were having lunch at a pub, but we wandereddown and around the corner to the Sherlock Holmes pub for lunch. We had fish & chips adn this was the first time that the fish was “real” fish, probably trout by the look of the skin and bones.
After lunch we walked back through Trafalgar Square to the other side, and then caught a bus back to teh hotel. Once there we met up with our Tour Guide for the trip. He seems like a good guy. We also foundout we will be with 2 Americans, 2 New Zealanders, 2 for South Africa and 23 Aussies – going to be a good trip. Too bad “our Aussies” aren’t here with us.
Then back out and onto Oxford Street to fight the crowds to go to M&S to get more custard tarts. The back to the Three Tuns pub and supper and a pint.
Tomorrow we are off, northeast to Stratford Upon Avon. I put up a few more photos.
