A Sunday drive through the country

We were on the coach and away at 8:00 this morning. It is cold out, all the other people are wearing jackets, and touques and gloves. We walked out in our shirt sleeves!
We took the back roads and ended up at Settle for our monring tea break. We wandered down the street to a cafe called the Naked Man and had a custrad tart – o so good. It was drizzling a bit, and a cool breeze. There was a viaduct right behind were we parked the
coach. A neat old bridge. From there drove the back roads to Grasmere for a late lunch. We had some very good soup and a cornish pastie (meat pie with meat & veggies). Again it was raining a bit. We did what our
tour director said, and stopped to see the aroma therapy guy to get some stuff for arthritis. A lot of us trouped in there – a bunch of oldies on tour!!
Off again down the road toward the Scottish border. We stopped at Gretna Greene for afternoon tea. Again rain and wind. It was a stop that had nothing but shops – so it wasn’t that interesting. I didn’t want to buy anything. We were a little bored.
Back on the coach and into Edinburgh for around 5.
We got our keys and up to the rooms. We are on our own tonight, so were are off to find something for supper. And then to the end of the street to see the castle lite up at night.
Well we met up with some friends from the tourand wandered the pubs looking for a table. We

finally found one but we had to wait at least 1/2 hr for our food. she had warned us. Afterwards we went toward the castle, but it started to rain and the wind was cold so we didn’t stay very long, then we raced back to the hotel adn warmth.
Tomorrow we storm the castle!!
