A good day to take photos

A long day today. Up at 6, and on the road to Bodie with a stop along the way to take photos of clouds over the monutains.
We started inside the hotel taking photos of things from the past. Then we wandered to the school. This was a little disapointing. It seems some poeple have been moving stuf around.
We were not happy. From there we went through 1 house and a saloon. The day was nice, sunny and warm with a few clouds.
Bodie is at 8400ft above sea level, so there is little between us and the sun, so lots of sunscreen. We had lunch outside. How come food taste better when you are sitting in the sun with friends? After lunch most of the group went up the hill to the stamp mill. I wisely decided I didn’t want to walk up hill much becasue I wanted to go out tonight and take some more night shots. So I conserved my energy.
We went back up to the car to sit in the shade for an hour. I put on shorts and more sunscreen. Then back down the hill to go into the store and the mortuary. Some fun things in the store. We also got to go into the Odd Fellows hall and another saloon/post office. Lots of bottles to take photos of.
That was the day at Bodie. Not many tourist around so it was a very good day.
We raced abck to the hotel and had a shower to cool down. Then we raced back to have supper with about half the group – the other half were too pooped to eat !!
We had a great dinner – the food was good, but the company was even better. We talked about the day, and then some of us showed off some of our images from other times. Having an ipad is great to show off your work.
After supper 4 of us decided to chase the sun. We went south and then went east up into the mountains to find a viewpoint. We were on our way back down, disapointed that we didn’t find any good vantage points, when we decided to follow a track up tward the top. We came out at the top at the right time. Great views north adn south, and the colour is coming up from the sunset. We got some colour reflections off the lakes and the clouds. It was also cold, with a wind, so we didn’t stay that long. Once the colour disappeared, so did we.
On the drive back to town a coyote tried to commit suicide, but I stopped in time.
